General Information

Access to Personal Counseling

In the event that a student is experiencing personal problems, they may approach the Program Director, who will put the student in contact with the OSF Behavioral Health Adult Program for initial evaluation. The multidisciplinary team of health care professionals and social workers involves the patient in the development of their own individualized treatment plan.  The services provided at the OSF Behavioral Health Adult Program will be charged to the student.

Health Services and Insurance

Students must assume responsibility for their own health care and hospitalization costs during the school year. It is strongly recommended that each students obtain health insurance coverage for the duration of the program. Emergency medical care is available to the student during school hours, but at the expense of the student. Occupational Health is available to the student for immunizations and medical testing and minor injuries at a nominal fee to the student.

Students are required to obtain a complete physical examination after acceptance into the program and prior to the starting date.

Personal Days

Six personal days/year are given to students, to be scheduled in advance when possible.

Student Services

Students have access to the Radiography rooms in the clinical areas of rotations and imaging phantoms to practice exams. They have access to the medical library and internet access in the clinical area and classroom. Scheduled tutoring may be requested with individual instructors.

Student Policies

Prior to the start of the program, all students enrolled in the School of Radiography will receive a student handbook. The handbook contains school policies which the student is expected to follow throughout the program.

Students with Disabilities

In accordance with the philosophy of the organization and the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the State Human Rights Acts, the School of Radiography will provide a “reasonable accommodation” to qualified individuals with disabilities who can otherwise perform the involved job’s essential functions. Cases will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Rights Reserved Statement

The School of Radiography reserves the right to modify, revoke or add to regulations at any time, through normal academic and hospital channels. This includes the right to change credit for courses, fees charged, graduation requirements, and any regulations affecting students whether they are academic or pertaining to student life.

Fair Treatment Policy/Grievance Procedure

The fair treatment policy and a process to file a grievance was established to ensure that every student has a chance to follow an orderly procedure for complaint review.

Grievance Procedure

  1. Any grievance related to the Radiologic Technology Program in general must be submitted in writing to the Program Director within 5 educational days from the time the grievance is perceived by the student. 
  2. The Program Director will respond to the grievance in writing within five working days of the receipt of the written grievance.
  3. If the Program Director’s response fails to resolve the grievance, the student may appeal in writing within five working days to the Director of Radiology/Medical Imaging.
  4. The Director, Radiology/Medical Imaging will, respond in writing within ten working days, to the student, and all concerned parties.
  5. If the Director, Radiology/Medical Imaging’s response fails to resolve the grievance or complaint, the student may appeal in writing within five working days to the Senior Vice President Chief Operating Officer over the Radiology area, who will, within ten working days, respond in writing to the student.
  6. The decision of the Senior Vice President Chief Operating Officer is final.
