OSF Saint
Francis Medical Center is dedicated to providing quality patient
care that
is safe, compassionate and caring. Our mission is alive;
we are a community of caregivers.
Located on the bluff overlooking the Illinois River, OSF Saint Francis
Medical Center is near the center of downtown Peoria, a city of 120,000.
With immediate access off Interstate 74 and its own air transport
service, the medical center is convenient to much of north central
Illinois. When this ease of access is coupled with a high tech environment
and more than 800 physicians, the result is a major regional healthcare
center.

(MSN) program.

and the University of Illinois.
Our History The story of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center began more than 130
years ago, in 1877, when five pioneering women arrived in Peoria.
These Sisters
soon formed
their own religious community, The Sisters of the Third Order of
St. Francis, and began working with the sick and injured in this
young,
but growing, community
on the banks of the Illinois River.
The
first hospital, located in a two-story frame house, was the start of
today's OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, a facility licensed for
616 beds with more
than 5,300 employees and a medical staff greater than 800.
The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis currently own and operate
seven acute care facilities and two long-term care facilities in
Illinois and Michigan. Apart from OSF Saint Francis in Peoria,
hospitals are located in Bloomington, Galesburg, Rockford, Pontiac
and Monmouth, IL., and Escanaba, MI.
The
heart of our Mission is "serving persons with the greatest
care and love."
